Description | 16th Annual Los Angeles ECUADORIAN Food Festival & Parade Free entrance to the public. More than 10,000 Ecuadorians, 5,000 people from other nationalities will enjoy a full menu of Ecuadorian Cuisine dishes. Attendants will also enjoy Ecuadorian Crafts, Ecuadorian Musical groups, Ecuadorian Folklore customs, Commercial Products, free ruffle to win 2 airline tickets to Ecuador, Carnival Games, Marketing & Promotions, Services & Information provided by all type of exhibitor companies. Placita Olvera is located right across the street from Union Station and one block from Chinatown. Also known as El Pueblo de Los Angeles is a traditional Mexican style plaza with souvenirs shops. There are several Ecuadorian dishes that are typical to the various regions in the country. From the mountainous regions people prefer meat served with rice, corn and potatoes. HORNADO (potatoes served with roasted pig & hominy, LLAPINGACHOS (a pan seared potato ball). FRITADA, HUMITAS, TAMALES, LOMO SALTADO & CHURRASCO. From the coast people prefer fish, beans, plantains and seafood. CEVICHE (fish, shrimp, etc.) marinated in lime juice, YUCA BREAD, ENCEBOLLADO (marinade chunks of fish, onions & spices), PATACONES (unripe plantains fried, mashed up & then refried), SECO DE CHIVO (a stew made from goat). A variety of fresh fruit are available: Granadilla, Passion fruit, Naranjilla, Bananas, Tree Tomato, Etc. The 16th Annual Parade starts at 11:00am on Broadway & 7th St. going north on Broadway until 1st St. then Main St. ending at Placita Olvera (Festival area). The parade will have Car clubs, Dance Groups, Drill Teams, convertibles, Motorcycles, 24 Beauty Queens and various Businesses. |
