Description | The City of South Padre Island invites you to meet your community and law enforcement personnel at National Night Out. The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the South Padre Island Baptist Church parking lot, located at 107 W. Mesquite. The community is invited to meet with officials from the South Padre Island Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies and businesses. The celebration will include exhibits, educational activities, food, music, games and fun for all. "We aim to strengthen the bond between the community and local law enforcement agencies to prevent and reduce criminal activity," stated Randy Smith, police chief. "We look forward to meeting and greeting our community members." National Night Out was first established in 1984 by Matt Peskin of the National Association of Town Watch and is celebrated across the country as a way for neighbors to come together and improve the safety of our communities. Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend and get to know your neighbors and police officers. Participants include: South Padre Island Police, Fire, Municipal Courts, Island Metro and Environmental Health Services, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Department of Public Safety, Cameron County Parks Police Department, Cameron County 911, Blue Marlin, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, HEB, Walmart, B&S Kites, Fishing’s Future, SPI BJJ Martial Arts, Solara Hospital, Origins, and Dolphin Docks. |
