Description | For 40 years, San Francisco’s Kronos Quartet has continually reimagined the string-quartet experience. One of the world’s most celebrated and influential ensembles, they have performed thousands of concerts and released more than 50 recordings. The nonprofit Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA) manages all aspects of the quartet’s work. Together, the Kronos Quartet and KPAA have set a striking example of arts leadership, creating extraordinary change in the field of classical music through their vision, innovation and commitment to a lifetime of growth and change. In so doing, they have redefined what is possible for hundreds of young musicians. Kronos exemplifies arts leadership at its most transformative. Join Kenneth Foster, director of the newly launched graduate Arts Leadership Program in the USC Thornton School of Music, for an interactive discussion/ performance with these remarkable musicians about their history, what inspires them and how they sustain a creative vision of the future for themselves and for their field. Organized by the USC Thornton School of Music. |
