Description | The Town of Greeneville announces plans for the 3rd annual “American Downtown†4th of July Celebration to include fireworks, a parade, entertainment, food, and children’s activities. “American Downtown†will be held in the afternoon and evening of Saturday, July 4, with most of the festivities planned for the Big Spring area behind the Greeneville-Greene County Library. The Jaystorm Project and Step Cousins are the first two acts to be scheduled for the entertainment lineup that will include a variety of musical genres. Local up-and-coming young favorites Step Cousins will perform country and Southern rock, including songs from their first album. “Step Cousins have been on stage with us every year, and we’re glad they are returning to our lineup,†said organizer Amy Rose, Town of Greeneville Public Relations Manager. “They brought a great, standing-room-only crowd to our New Year’s Eve celebration, and we’re sure their fans will show up again on July 4th.†The Jaystorm Project is new to the “American Downtown†lineup, bringing a mix of high-energy funk, rock, and hip-hop to the celebration. “Jaystorm put on a great show at the 2014 Lyrics on the Lawn concert series, and we’re very excited to have him and his band join our lineup this year,†Rose said. American Downtown will kick off with a Main Street parade beginning at 2 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “United We Stand.†More details of the parade will be announced at a later date. Following the parade, an afternoon and evening of music and family fun will be held at the Big Spring. The celebration will end with a downtown fireworks display that will be even larger than last year’s show, according to Rose. Admission to “American Downtown†is free. Initial supporters of “American Downtown†are Silver-Level sponsors Andrew Johnson Bank, Greeneville Federal Bank, Greeneville Light & Power System, Greeneville Oil & Petroleum, Marsh Propane, Meco Corporation, and TEVET, LLC, and Bronze-Level sponsors Consumer Credit Union, Creamy Cup, Food City, Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Summers-Taylor, and Wal-Mart Logistics. More sponsorship is needed to make the event free to the public.
